Hi! My name is Megan— I’m so glad you’ve found my page!
My background
I am an ACE certified Personal Trainer, digital/film photographer and content creator!
In the fitness world, I have competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting, olympic lifting and strongman. The focus of my work as a trainer is deeply rooted in the psychological and physical health benefits of strength training. Mental health is so very important for me. I want to help empower women to feel stronger inside and out of the gym, see value beyond their appearance and not fear food.
From childhood I was always active. I started with swim team and gymnastic in elementary school and quickly added soccer, field hockey and diving. I am an extremely competitive person and love having a goal to work towards. In college I didn't get to play sports anymore so I started to teach myself how to strength train. Going to the gym on campus was extremely intimidating and I spent probably the first year doing mainly cardio and bodyweight workouts. As I continued the little voice in my head urged me to go lift weights. Watching the big, muscular males lift seemingly impossible loads intrigued me.
As I got more into weight lifting I decided to become a personal trainer. I took the class and fortunately passed not knowing what a milestone this would be in my life. I had originally planned to go into psychology work but training seemed so rewarding. When I first got into the fitness industry I was so focused on looks. I had always been a chubby girl, before being thicc was ~in~ so I saw bodybuilding as a way to legitimize myself. I competed in 3 bodybuilding shows and dieting down to nearly minimal bodyfat, needless to say, I was still unhappy with myself. I took some time away from the bodybuilding world and really questioned my love for fitness. I struggled with disordered eating, obsessive exercise and body dsymorphia. With the help of therapy, family and friends I was able to begin recovery.
I knew something had to change fitness wise but I didn't want to eliminate strength training. So I began to focus on ADDING things to my life. Building strength, muscle, endurance, friendships, relationships and my business. I never wanted to try to be less. It was time for me to TAKE UP SPACE.
I dove into training for powerlifting and haven't looked back at the pursuit of gains since. I have dabbled in Olympic lifting as well. I currently focus on overall strength training with a focus in strongman events and I love it! I love everything about strength training. I love the variety of movements and equipment. I love focusing on what my body can accomplish. I love getting to compete with myself and get better each day, month and year. The focus is no longer on aesthetics for me (just a nice lil perk). The focus is on my accomplishments and I am so thankful to have found a home in strength sports.
